Six-day guide · Hong Kong, Macau and Disneyland

About this guide

Hong Kong works beautifully as a short-haul escape from Singapore or Malaysia: frequent flights, English-friendly signs, dense food districts and public transport that makes a six-day trip feel much bigger than it is.

Editorial guide by 17Hieng, written for a short-haul city break.

6 days · 5 nights

Hong Kong, one day at a time.

Harbour walks, neighbourhood cafés, a Macau day trip and a full day at Disneyland. Start from Tsim Sha Tsui and explore at your own pace.

Day 1: Arrival, sunset bus and Victoria Harbour

Settle in. Catch the harbour lights.

  • Tsim Sha Tsui
  • Airport transfer
  • Easy pace

  1. Settle into Tsim Sha Tsui

Transfer from the airport, drop off luggage and check in. Allow time for immigration, baggage and station walks.

  2. Optional sunset bus ride

If arrival timing allows, head to Central for an open-top sightseeing bus. Check the operator’s current route, boarding point and departure time.

  3. Dinner and Victoria Harbour

Enjoy dinner and a waterfront walk in Tsim Sha Tsui. West Kowloon is an optional alternative if there is time.

If it rains: skip the open-top bus, browse Harbour City and keep dinner indoors.

Day 2: Kowloon, Star Ferry and Wan Chai

Street scenes and a harbour crossing.

  • Kowloon, Wan Chai
  • MTR, Star Ferry
  • Moderate walking
  1. Signal Hill and Avenue of Stars

Start at Signal Hill Garden and the Avenue of Stars, then take the MTR to Mong Kok for street photography and Langham Place.

  2. Kowloon Park and Harbour City

Return to Tsim Sha Tsui for lunch, Kowloon Park and Harbour City. Leave time for photos and a snack near the ferry pier.

  3. Star Ferry and Wan Chai

Cross the harbour by ferry and explore the Admiralty and Wan Chai waterfront. Return to Tsim Sha Tsui for dinner. Check dates before adding seasonal events.

If it rains: swap Signal Hill and the street walk for Langham Place and Harbour City.

Day 3: Kennedy Town, murals and Victoria Peak

Cafés, trams and skyline views.

  • Kennedy Town, Central, the Peak
  • Tram, Peak Tram
  • Moderate walking

  1. Kennedy Town photo walk

Ride the ding ding tram and explore waterfront views, street signs and cafés, including % Arabica. Respect access rules around sports courts and residential streets.

  2. Central streets and murals

Return towards Central for a street-art walk and lunch before heading to the Peak Tram.

  3. Victoria Peak

Allow time for the tram queue and enjoy the skyline as the light changes.

If visibility is poor: spend longer at Central’s cafés and indoor stops instead of queuing for the Peak.

Day 4: Macau day trip

Heritage streets to grand resort sights.

  • Macau
  • Ferry from Sheung Wan
  • Full day
  1. Ferry to Macau

Depart from the Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan. Check the operator’s check-in deadline, arrival terminal and return sailing; allow time for immigration.

  2. Historic Macau

Walk between Monte Fortress and the Ruins of St Paul’s, then continue towards the Lisboa area. Leave space for lunch and breaks.

  3. Taipa and Cotai

Explore Rua do Cunha, then choose from The Parisian, The Londoner and Wynn Palace. Prioritise a few stops and allow enough time to reach the return ferry.

If it rains: shorten the historic walk and spend more time in the indoor Cotai resorts.

Day 5: Hong Kong Disneyland day

A full day of rides and Disney magic.

  • Hong Kong Disneyland
  • MTR via Sunny Bay
  • Full day

  1. Travel to Disneyland

From East Tsim Sha Tsui, take the Tuen Ma Line to Nam Cheong, change to the Tung Chung Line for Sunny Bay, then the Disneyland Resort Line. Check park hours before leaving.

  2. Frozen and Fantasyland

Start with Frozen Ever After, then choose Mickey’s PhilharMagic, “it’s a small world” and nearby experiences. Stop at Emporium if accessories are on the shopping list.

  3. Thrills and favourites

Choose among Hyperspace Mountain, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!, Iron Man Experience, Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars and Mystic Manor. Adjust the order to queues and energy levels.

  4. Shows and Disney friends

Use the official app for parade times, character appearances and entertainment locations. Plan around the day’s schedule.

  5. Main Street finale

Enjoy Main Street, U.S.A. and any scheduled seasonal entertainment. Leave time for the journey back to the hotel.

If it rains: lean on indoor attractions such as Mickey’s PhilharMagic, “it’s a small world” and Mystic Manor.

Day 6: Departure day

One last breakfast. An easy journey home.

  • Tsim Sha Tsui
  • Airport transfer
  • Easy pace
  1. Stay close to the hotel

Enjoy breakfast and final shopping around Tsim Sha Tsui. Arrange luggage storage if check-out is earlier than departure.

  2. Transfer to the airport

Work backwards from the airline’s required airport arrival time. Include luggage collection, the airport transfer and a buffer for delays.
